Ok, best start with an apology for a semi-political thread but I'm pretty sure that republican, democrat and all the independent voters can all rally around this cause together.

It has just come to my attention that the Westboro Baptist Church of Kansas will be causing their usual trouble and this week they are going to be in St. Johnsbury Vt. For those of you not familiar with this complete nut jobs they have one MO. These psychos for lack of a better word, protest and stir trouble at the funerals of fallen soldiers under the motto that they were killed by god and deserved to die because America accepts gays. Plain and simple, these people are so homophobic that they feel the need to disrupt a families final good bye.

On July 2nd of this year, SPC. Ryan Grady was killed by a roadside explosive. Tomorrow at 10AM the funeral will be held at the North Congregational Church in St Johnsbury, Vt. Located at 1325 Main St. So far I have told everyone I know, I hope that many more will show. I hope that there is enough people to create a wall of support, shielding the Grady family from these monsters.

Remember, Vt is a carry state. While of course we have to be responsible for our actions and by no means should break any laws, I think that if many people show up "equipped" it will make a huge statement "YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE!"

I wish it was closer. I would go. I think they protested in MA too, if I'm not mistaken. I am all for our freedoms, but this goes to f----ing far. Go protest in Washington and leave the famiies alone.

We agree, dmc!!!!!!

Wow, I haven't heard of this crazy shit! These folks sound very misguided and confused I think. Either way I hope they feel this is worth dying for because it's only a matter of time before someone completely rages on these folks.

These are the same "God hate f*gs" people that Howard Stern makes fun of...

they teach their kids hate at a young age - in the name of Christ...

The Patriot Guard is a group that is usually invited to attend the services of the fallen soldiers. I beleive in the past, they "sheild" those attending the services from those nuts who show up to protest.

The website is down, but I'm guessing the Patriod Guard will be there in VT.

Patriot Guard was there from what I know. From what I can tell it seems you have two groups of counter protesters at these things. There's the PGR who is there in the official capacity for the family and then there are those who want blood so the imbred brigade just goes away.

Due to my night hours at work I was not able to attend (I passed out on the couch because, well, thats usually when I get tired...sad excuse I know)

DUDE!!!! I've been back for less then a week and I'm left with one question. Do you have to bring everything down?

Take it down a notch man. I totally agree that Vietnam was wrong with regard to homecomings but I wasn't alive for that. Are you inferring that past mistakes justify making them again today?

This was the lead story on the VT news Saturday night. They didn't mention anything about the protests. They showed some shots from inside the church and some family members speaking. He had a 6 year old daughter.
