Hey, I thought it would be cool to get some of the posters together for an early ski weekend up here in the Mad River Valley.

I happen to own an inn just a couple of miles from Sugarbush, and while my, er, accountant (read: wife) won't let me give the rooms away, I could let people stay for $25/night, provided they were willing to share a room with other AZers and we're talking early season. I'll also provide the hot tub and the beer.

I'm thinking the weekend of either December 9-10, or December 16-17. After that, we're too busy.

Anyone interested?

Hmmmmm.

Dec. 10-11th is the New England Telemark fest. I'm sure that offer would work out for some. I'll be there but have local lodging (non-commercial) worked out.

Great offer!

We spent a week at the Golden Lion last season...very nice, very convenient. I heartily recommend it.

12/17-18 is no good for us, but 12/10-11 is a possibility. King, we would of course pay the regular rate for accomodations for the whole family.

Wow, that's a very generous offer, King....

I'll have to take a look at the calendar.

Re: AZ Weekend in MRV

Great idea, KingM! I'd love to ski with some fellow AZers one of those weekends. I already have lodging in the MRV but it would be great to meet up for some turns. :D

The weekend of Dec. 17/18 probably works better for me but who knows? Dec. 17 is Demo Day at Mount Ellen, which I want to take advantage of. I also have friends who will be in the Valley that weekend anyway so I was going to try to make it up there then.

As to only SB being open, who knows? If we get some serious snow MRG could be open by Dec. 17 although the conditions may be marginal there unless some dumpings have occurred.

Keep us posted, KingM, on which date you're leaning towards.

I think it is a good idea, also. If I'm not working, I'd like to get together with some of those that head to Sugarbush for a run or two.

I wouldn't be doing the lodging thing, because I live at South. :) But if you aren't careful, you could have fun.

I skied Jay last year in early december and it was almost 100%. Snow should start piling up pretty quick now with lots of 1-3" events with the hope for a couple bigger storms. I wouldnt bet the farm it's going to be good that weekend but I think there should be some good turns and natural terrain open.
I may be open for that weekend.

This sounds like a great idea! I don't think I'll be able to make it up there for then though. I hope other members are able to take advantage. Maybe start a thread in the Trips & Events Forum to get this organized?

that's a great offer and an exceptional deal for the mad river valley. i won't partake in an early season weekend'er though as i have prepaid for much of my season and will be sticking to those areas for the most part and bush is expensive and i don't want to burn one of my mad card's early season. don't let me step on it though, just saying i am out. it's a great offer and great idea.

i had thought this would be a great idea for the sugarloaf raggae weekend, though i hadn't formally suggested it yet.

That reminds me. I also have access to package lift tickets. I can't give you a price on the tickets alone, since they have to be packaged with the room, but suffice it to say that with the great rates they give me early season it would work out to a total of $54/day for both your lodging (at the rate and caveats I quoted above) and the lift ticket (plus sales tax for the room). You can do the math.

The only catches are that I have to preorder them and you have to get at least two days. No single day tickets allowed.
