Anyway- we decided to leave philly at 7:55 am in the hopes of getting some skiing in on thursday afternoon. After the single hottest plane ride in history we arrived at the SLC airport with no problems.
While waiting for the shuttle to leave we realized there is some snow in the mountains:
After a shuttle ride filled with a few guys behind us plowing narsty airport sbarro pepper and onion pizza into their mouths we arrived at Alta around 12:30 and checked in here:
Afternoon skiing doesn't start until 1 so we had plenty of time to discover two things.
1. The fries here are good
2. One is a damn good time to start skiing
Day 1:
Skiied Collins, Wildcat and Sugarloaf lifts. Reports had said it snowed 2-4 inches but clearly there was more snow. Up high there was at least 6. The snow was soft, the bumps were soft and evenly spaced and the sun warmed you up quickly after a long flight.
Heading up Wildcat lift
For Greg and his bump fetish: ( there were sweet soft snow bumps ALL over the place)
Castle not open on day 1 but looking sweet
Ballroom closed too but would open later in the trip
Did I mention that there aren't alot of people mid-week at alta?
