Spent 6 days skiing with Tyrolpete and some of the Firsttracks crew. Alta had the best snow by far, Snowbird mostly hardpack but we did find some deep stuff way out somewhere. Snowbasin was frozen. Pete showed me around everyday and if it wasn't for him I would have never ventured out into these areas. You really have to know where you are going...cliffs are easily found. Its amazing how much good snow Alta has days after a storm...getting to it is another story. Saturday was a great bluebird day. Hiked out for some deep stuff across the Alta Snowbird border. The further you go...the better it gets. Sunday we met with freezing fog but stuck it out for a late day bluebird...sometimes it pays to wait a little. Hit Alta for 3 days then went over to Snowbird to change it up a little. High winds kept the Tram closed but the Little cloud chair opened...why I have no idea as we got pummeled with 50 MPH winds. Mineral Basin was closed so we had to find other forms of excitement. Bump runs everywhere...looooong ones. A local saved us by leading us into some steep and dep stuff, just not sure where it was. Steep enough to keep me thinking though. Snowbasin up next...a frozen wasteland but the top of the Grizzly downhill was nice...damn thing is steep, don't know how they straightline it!! Once you got off the groomed it was windblown slab, but we made the best of it. Final day back at Alta where the snow is still good. Skied the steepest stuff yet, a few OH CRAP moments for me. But with no ice to worry about its still easier than some Eastern slides for life. Turned out to be some of the best skiing ever even with no new snow. Alta is still the best...just tag along with a local.

Had a great day with tirolerpeter last year, always good to have a guide. Looks like you were able to make the most of the conditions.

I think we have the same MH jacket.

Glad you had a great time Ira. I'm going up to Alta for day 34 after breakfast. There are still some powder stashes that need to be skied, We are hoping for some new snow later this week. I'm guessing you will be coming back some time soon :)
