Anybody using a bike helmet for spring skiing?

I might be going out "slushing" Sunday and it is likely to be the warmest temps I've experienced since I started wearing a helmet. Mine is a Boeri and while I haven't been bothered by it up to about 50F, I'm picturing myself being pretty miserable when it gets above 60F. I'll have my kid with me so no lid is not an option (and with my mad slush skills, probably not a wise move in any circumstance.) TIA

I can slide my vents wide open and it keeps the head cool as well. Kids have removable inserts to vent their helmets.

My Giro is sweet. open up all the vents and take off the ear muffs, almost like a bike helmet in fact I use it as one in the summer! So, the noggin is protected.

The chin strap slides out of the ear pieces, then pull the ear pieces straight down, they unclip.

To reverse just push them up until they click.

None that are adjustable AFAIK... it's a Boeri Axis. Again, I have never been too hot or too cold in it, but I assumed it must have some upper temperature limit... perhaps not!

I have my vents at least partially open on all but the coldest days. In spring, I keep it fully vented and as soon as I get to the chair I take it off for the ride up. that keeps me from getting too hot.

I have a Giro Fuse and never thought about taking off the earmuffs. I will have to see if I can remove those easily. thanks for the idea:beer:

The Giro flaps just pull out. PULL straight down with a firm grip. You will not break them. It does not look like they come out but they do. Showed some kid on the chair lift on ST. Patty's day at Mt. Snow. warm that day and head was just fine! Sweaty but fine!

I have a Fuse too! XXL fits my big round Charlie Brown head! The Fuse has lots of vent holes, not only do they open and close with the slide vent there are three more on each side that the plugs just pull out. But that one is pretty obvious! I think!

But the Fuse in my opinion, really does cover all I do all year long!

The Fuse was discontinued last year but the wierd thing is they turned it into a model called the Prima. http://www.giro.com/en-us/products/snow-helmets/prima/#/matte-titanium/ They look identical to a Fuse, both retail for about $160, the only problem it is now considered a small head helmet so it only comes in the small sizes.

If your looking for a new Prima and you fit the small sizes your going to have to wait till next year or least the summer. Most of the helmet manufacturers ran out of helmets two months ago. The only helmets we have been able to get are next years Smith Variant which now have the audio setup built in so you don't have to buy the Skull Candy replacement earmuffs anymore.

If you don't mind a used Fuse check Ebay and Craiglist, unles it's an old model of a Fuse, you can easily remove the liner and wash it. Personally I would only do this if your 100% sure a used one will fit you.

I use my ski helmet for biking. I've got a Bolle with removable earflaps and I'm too damn cheap to buy a bike helmet.

I have a leedom prophet. Its very similar to the giro fuse. I chose it over the fuse because it was about $30 cheaper. Its very comfortable and great for all seasons. The vents are adjustable, and the ear flaps and liner can be removed for warm days.

If you can find one, I highly recommend the leedom prophet.

I used my Giro G10 today and the temps got up to 79 degrees. Just opened the vents and took the ear muffs off.

True but some of the colors are not that feminine, like the one in the link, are purchased by men.
