I was wondering the same thing, so I clicked on the NECN forecast and theyre actually calling for up to 5'' in parts of Vermont. Not sure about Belleayre though. That forecast was the clincher for me. Now the big question: sugarbush north, burke or cannon.

We are going anyway. Belleayre had a good base going into this thaw, and they are predicting snow showers for tomorrow.

is it worth the hour drive?
90 minutes for us, but I have a Stack-O-CDs to help pass the miles.

Whaleback today wasn't too bad, the trails still have plenty of snow, and even though it rained today, there was still quite a few skiers and riders out there. I for one went home after work, and only took like three runs down the hill.

My answers...

Not doing them all. I just don't have all the answers...

is it worth the hour drive?

Work? Ski?

will it be crowded?

They certainly hope so.

should i,if i go bring rock skiis?

They're all rock skis. It is only a matter of when you admit it. 8)

are drugs really an answer?

Drugs are the answer!
(I seem to have forgotten the question. )

how much beer is really to much?

Probably less than what you've had?

It turned out to be not too bad at Belleayre after all. Mother Nature left a powder coating on the sugar snow as she pulled the back side of that storm through this morning. The crowds were light everywhere except the lodges, which were full of non-skiing mother in laws.

not quite sure where you were skiing but all the diamonds were solid ice and most the blues were skied off by the time i left at 130...granted deer run was ok but anything that had a pitch was either solid ice or skied off very early...also busted on z man off ski patrol "does the recording for conditions" wasnt loose grn/loose grn with hard pack" wasnt even close

I think this is all a matter of perspective and expectations. This was our 8th trip to Belleayre this season and the conditions were the worst so far.

However it was much better than we feared. The past week was warm, so very limited snow making was happening, and two days had significant rain. We braced to arrive at the mountain in drizzling rain with half the trails closed, and the remainder being ice sheets liberally sprinkled with bare patches, and choked with holiday crowds.

Instead the flakes were falling, only a handful of trails were closed, and a rock never touched my skis. We did find patches of ice on the diamonds and later on they were sheets of ice, along with the blues directly in front of the lodge. Still we took several runs down the patchy blacks until midday. As you can see in the pic, we found trails with some elbow room.

We all left with smiles on our faces.
:D
