Area skied: Arapahoe Basin, Colorado.
Date skied: February 17th, 2007 from opening to 2:30pm
Surface conditions: 14" of powder with cloudless skies.
After skiing in 8" of powder yesterday at Keystone we awoke to reports of 14" of new snow overnight at Arapahoe Basin with 6" new here at Keystone .
This was a pleasant and unforecast snowfall that was Continental Divide localized.
Warren and I ate a fast breakfast and drove the 6 miles to A-Basin in time to have third chair on the Exhibition Triple.
I got first tracks down Gulch which is my favorite lower mountain trail. It's about 10-15' wide and loaded with moguls.
Warren got some fresh lines on High Noon and I got first tracks on TB Glade. Next up was a ride to the Arctic Circle with a ride to 12,456' on the Lenawee Mountain triple for a run down West Wall where we cut some fresh lines in the powder.
I took Warren on a ride up the Pallavichini chair and we skied through some trees on Powder Keg to Scudder.
We took four more runs down Gulch with Warren enjoying the moguls and a run in some powder from the summit on Norway Face.
Today was a 10 out of 10 for weather and snow and by far my best day of the year at my favorite ski resort in the west.
