Assos Duathlon Socks_s7

We'd be lying if we said that Assos didn't surprise us every season, and this year is no different. In fact, we're still scratching our heads in disbelief surrounding the ideology behind its new Duathlon Socks_s7. Essentially, Assos created a sock that's ideal for cyclocross, yet it's light enough for road cycling, but durable enough for running. Basically, it's Assos' take on a two-in-one design, only it overachieved as usual. We know, it's a great deal to take in.
These socks feature a blended composition of nylon, elastane, and polypropylene. Together, each fiber fulfills a different role, working harmoniously towards a single directive " comfort. The nylon fibers guarantee a light weight, high breathability, and comfort against the skin. Meanwhile, the elastane is featured for its stretch and conformity. But, the polypropylene was selected over the standard polyester for both its moisture management and durability. Polypropylene and polyester are both polymers, meaning that they're both essentially plastics. However, where they differ is that polypropylene is hydrophobic to the point that it's unable to absorb water. And, as a result, it spreads moisture out over a larger surface area, which rapidly accelerates evaporation. So, in short, these fibers ensure that your feet will remain dry. And when all combined, the three fibers provide the foot with the ideal interface for interaction with either a running or cycling shoe.
In addition to the varied fiber content, you'll also find that the Duathlon's construction is different from that of a typical cycling sock. Yes, it features a support band over the top of the foot, and yes, the Duathlon features a lighter weight construction in this area as well. However, the Duathlon is thicker in the toe box, along the bottom, and over the heel than a standard cycling sock. Amazingly, this goes unnoticed in the saddle, but it makes all the difference during either a cross' race or while cross-training. Essentially, this added thickness provides the necessary buffer between the shoe for the impact of running.
The Assos Duathlon Socks_s7 are available in the colors White Panther and Black Volkanga and in the sizes 0 (35-38), I (38-42), and II (43-46).
