Bob or others, any tips and tricks for a first time visitor to Attitash? I scored some freebies  and probably will be up in March sometime. My daughter is all about blue bumps, and my wife likes the long easy cruisers... I'm usually up for whatever. Any leads on cheap lodging in the area would also be welcomed. TIA!

Personally prefer the Bear Peak side. First off is parking, which is much easier there than at the Attitash Peak base. Second is terrain, if you want to avoid most of the crowds this side also seems quiter. Lastly terrain is all blue and up on this side with much variety including some bumos, trees cruisers and other interesting trails.

I ski Attitash about 75% of my time on the slopes. I know I've given the Attitash schpiel in here before, so you might want to search my earlier posts. Here's the abridged version.

Definitely park at Bear Peak, for the aforementioned reasons. Try and get there early, since the bus trips usually start arriving right around 9:00. On Saturdays, I've seen 1 bus, I've seen 11 buses. It's hit or miss.

If you take lunch, either take hit the lodge by 11:30 or after 1:30. The lodge at Bear is not very big. People tend to throw all their bags under tables and/or use the "ski mom" trick - the mom who drove the kids to the area sits at a huge table by herself, reads and holds the table for the kids at lunch.

We usually take a few warmups on Bear then head to Attitash. Now I'm wondering if it's better to ride the quad up and head right over to Attitash. The triple is slow (12 minutes to summit), and when that line starts to build, it's a pain. The quad on Bear moves pretty quickly. Anyway, the terrain on Bear is the typical ASC wide groomers. There are 2 bump runs (as of last Sunday) - Mythmaker and Kachina. They used to let Trillium bump up, but I'm not sure if they do that anymore. On Attitash, the bumps are usually on Grandstand, Tim's Trauma and Idiot's Option. That side is much more classic New England - narrow, wind-y, hardpacked trails.

for the cross-over, Attitash to Bear is easier. I've rarely had a problem with people crossing my path by the bridge. I think Bear-to-Attitash traffic has a yield. You will have to take the Abenaki quad up once on Bear. That traverse past the lift is BRUTAL. Going Bear to Attitash, just bomb down Morning Star (from the summit) or Snow Dancer (from the Abenaki) and take your first right after the Cub's Cut intersection. It's a the bottom of a short quick drop. You will need the speed to make it all the way over. Even then, you'll probably only make it to the double chairs. It's impossible to get to the triple without some serious, serious skating.

well, that turned out to be not so abridged. Anyway, have fun at Attitash. It's a decent little mountain.
