Attitash Fri 13? RPP Race?

Anyone have experience skiing Attitash during the Red Parka ski race? We're passholders at Wildcat and with the $9 lift tix, we're staying far away based on reports of previous event.

It would be nice to see some races, but we were looking forward to smaller crowds.

Cheap $9 lift tickets should bring out massive crowds. Massive crowds would cause others to stay away to avoid: skied off trails, parking lot mayhem, chaotic base lodges and long lift lines.

I've raced in this event for over 10 years and will be there this Friday. At Attitash there will be about 150 racers, all skiing the same trail, of which most are done racing by noon as they have been eliminated (then they start drinking). Afternoon everybody stands at the comp jump and watches the elimination rounds which are usually done by 2. About the only concern you could have there is that the lower portion of Spillway is closed. The rest of the mountain is wide open. As for watching the races, there are some VERY fast skiers here and watching the doors open and the dual skiing, along with the jump, is a pretty good time.
