Thanks for the link. I was wondering about avy danger given the winter we've been having. 36 plus inches on a sheet of ice makes for an unstable surface. I was thinking that the trees would be enough of an anchor on Mansfield, though the exposed areas would probably be prime avy territory. Good reminder to keep your heads up out there.

Thats amazing for that low angle to fracture.Kind of hard to believe actually.Also,another thing that should be noted is his ski poles.This is a perfect example why our catskiing guides tell us not touse pole straps.That arm that is buried is further anchored by his pole and is virtually useless to free itself to help dig oneself out.
