Definitely a perk of the sport. Ski areas must have some of the most beautiful bar locations in the world. Non skiers would never know this! I need to get better at taking photos... locally the Nest at Saddleback is pretty cool. One of the best mountain bars I have been to is Tio Bobs in Portillo. Crazy parties there during wine week where they hand out full bottles for free to drink. As many as you want... Good times! The mountain bars in Europe must be remarkable.

This is a fun thread! I loved the Steilhang Hut at A-Basin - super minimal options but can't beat the view from above treeline.

Something I really appreciated at A-Basin was the strategically located picnic tables in beautiful locations, complete with a shovel. We were pinching our pennies on that trip and I had many happy peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with a pocket beer at these tables. It felt like fine dining with the views and the terrain.

Loveland actually has grills that you can fire up and cook on at there on mountain lodges/hits. Had some hot dogs, buns and chips in my pack and it worked out great. Bought a few beers as a felt I owed them a little and enjoyed the views with my wife.

The cold one at the Bar des Glaciers after completing the Aiguille Du Midi in Chamonix hit different.....

Back in New England.... Nobody has mentioned Matty B's at Attitash Mountain Village. Their wings are great too!

We went to Klocke Estates in Hudson, NY today and I was instantly transported to the Seven Glaciers bar at the top of Alyeska’s gondola, sitting at the bar and looking through the bottles at the Catskills. Same experience except viewing the Chugach mountains. Been to many mountain top bars over the years, Klocke is a spectacular place if you have never been.
Thanks for the heads up on Klocke Estates we'll have to check that out someday. My son and I visited Alyeska at the end of June this year. We had lunch at the base but did ride the tram up afterwards. The views from the top up there were incredible...

I can't imagine better places in the US to get a drink at the top of the mountain on a clear day sunny day then Alyeska, Telluride, Crystal, or Heavenly. If Deer Valley adds some sort of lodge overlooking the Jordanalle Reservoir within the new Deer Valley East section, drinks from up there will be about as good as it gets too.

Some of my favorite places for lunch or apres at the tops of mountains to take in the views are Alpenglobe Stube at Keystone, Sam's at Snowmass, and the 7880 Club at Deer Valley. On the East Coast, the Switchback Grille at the top of Bretton Woods is really nice too.

Separately, I attended a wedding ceremony this fall that was on the deck of the High Camp at Palisades Tahoe which is the area at the top of the tram. That setting for views was incredible as well...

Slight veer here. I understand that Killington is no longer going to operate the Wobbly. I didn't hear it was closing just not operating under K. Anyone know what's going on there? I've always been a little bummed it was closed so early in the spring while the skiing was still strong.
