I remember that storm and poached a bunch. The difference then was that they did have a few more trails open including Deer Run t2b from snowmaking and the gondola was open.

Right now only Tomahawk lift is open, Route 9 is blocked off. Not sure poaching will be worth the effort.
Yes - I think they might have even opened the quad by the end of the day.

Wow. Looks amazing.

What did you poach there?

How were the lift lines?

The first chair line was the longest I've ever seen at an ORDA hill.

We were on second chair. By the time we made it back to the lift the line wasn't too bad. Probably less than 10 mins.

Today was excellent as well. Good leftovers from the storm and good bumps forming by late morning. Not as much of a shitshow either. I decided to get there by 8:15 just in case and by 8:30 the lots at Tomahawk were already almost full! But they opened the gondola for up/downloading to get more parking in play I assume. Plenty of skiers.

A few naturals opened and the right side of Seneca and down under the gondi was some awesome early season skiing. Quite a few poaches evident on Dreamcatcher, I popped in down below the cliff off of Deer Run. A little tacky but enough snow to make it fun.

Friday seems iffy for us now. Lots of moving parts with family in for the holiday.

We'll see.

Did they have rentals going last weekend? if we go for it, one kid will have boots but no skis with them.

The website says no rentals until December 7th. Check the shop at the bottom of the access road. I think it's called the Belleayre Ski Shop.

I have tickets for my daughter and I on Friday.

That shop is open and has rentals, although I'd call and check anyway. I stopped in 2 weeks ago to ask about seasonal rentals. I believe the delay at Belleayre has to do with the lodge renovations.

Have fun everyone. We're not gonna make it. Pretty bummed, but it's a long drive for us, so this is the right decision.

dumping on the webcams.
I'm north by northwest by a fair bit. At 1200' and dumping at least an 1 inch an hour here. Been trying to keep ahead all day. Should be good tomorrow!

Snow report mentions Utsyantha. But I thought that trail was killed for Goat Path? I don't see Utsyantha on the map.

They renamed area 51 Utsyantha after destroying both the original Utsyantha and goat path. Now they have a horrible hunteresque trail named goat path.

Anyone there today?
Not today. Been holding off since the gondola fiasco. I believe the express is open so that's a plus. Probably Monday as I can't trip Gore yet for work reasons.

I was there yesterday. Great conditions. Wanatuska opened. Gondi was down for repairs. You had to pick around the left side of the bottom part of Goat Path (I refuse to call that Utsayantha, and why would the state call it an Indian name after changing the Tomahawk lift to Hawk lift) to find the cutover to the west side. Lift line skiing over there was fantastic.

Back tomorrow.
