Hunter will be open with F Lift at least on Saturday, possible top to bottom if conditions permit. Looks like beginner terrain possible for Sunday with C Lift over at Hunter One.

Windham will open this weekend. Not sure if it's Saturday and Sunday. They're hinting at only expert terrain open. Probably means no top to bottom, but they may, of course, over deliver.

Belleayre will open Saturday. Assume it's Onteora accessed from Lift 7 mid station. No beginner terrain.

Plattekill postponed opening until Dec. 17th.

You never know, they might have some beginner terrain. Last year they had "Running Bear" serviced by the rope tow at the bottom open and they were blowing snow on Iroquois all the way down to the bottom on opening day.

From belleayre email: "We hope to have at least one trail open in the Upper and Lower areas with potential for opening several others over the weekend."

Hunter should be able to open half the face if they wanted..they might just open a few in case it warms up..this snowmaking thing is pretty expensive....I say go for it of course..but its not my money..

Temps aren't great though. Saturday night is the only really cold night in the forecast, otherwise it's 30F days and 25F nights at midstation elevation.

Lots of good things weather wise happening in the Catskills.

The snowmaking pond water temp has got to be getting colder. This is extremely important to reducing the cost of snowmaking. Here in the hudson valley just outside of Kingston I have a pretty good size bucket of water frozen on my porch this morning. These cold temps will help freeze the top layer of the ground an maybe setup the natural snow for a good base.

It will be important not to ski on closed trails with thin natural snow cover this weekend. If skiers and riders expose the dirt and rocks, that sun can really do a number on heating things up.
