As of this morning 12/05 Belleayre is listed as the only NY ski area opened on www.snocountry.com
Belleayre had a low temp down to 17 degrees during the night.

Hunter and Windham will be opened on Wednesday.

Should be a nice weekend with limited number of trails opened.

Yeah....looks like just Onteora today. They're talking 6 trails and 3 lifts for the weekend. One lift will be the triple, one will be the double in the beginner area - but I wonder which one the third will be, a rope tow in the beginner area or the new high speed. This weekend was "supposed" to be the quad's opening weekend but all bets are off on that now.

It was 22 when I left my house this morning, and that's in the low lands. I'm sure they had the guns cranking pretty hard all night. It's about time winter returned, now we just need some natural to help us out!

Looks like mother nature decided to help out after all. Belleayre is reporting 2 inches of lake affect snow, which they sometimes get.

better than nothing.
IMO belleayre reports less then they get.
I have several memories of being there skiing in 4-5 inches and reading reports of 1-2 inches.
The tops of the ridge just catches way more snow than the base area where they measure.

Yeah, wasn't downplaying the importance of 2" of fresh snow. I was more making fun of the state of affairs where 2" of snow in the last 3 weeks is a cause for celebration.

I do like Belleayre. My two early season visits to Belleayre were both very pleasant, with low skier volume and friendly people. The high elevation at peak is definitely a plus for picking up some extra snow.

Yea- i feel you. I shouldn't get excited over forecasts that call for 1-3 inches. But that's the life when we life out here. Move to the wasatch and I bet there's no excitement over 1-3.
