Has anyone been night skiing this year at either Jiminy Peak or Berkshire East? How much terrain is lighted at each area, and do they have a late afternoon or evening groom? Might be going to one of them this weekend, any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Jimney has maybe 75% of their mountain open at night. They do a afternoon groom on some of the trails(mostly the greens).

I enjoy the night skiing there, never been to Berkshire East though.

Berkshire East has probably 50-60% of the trails lit. Conditions have been very good the past week and are sure to be good this week with the extensive grooming they've done.

One vote for Berkshire East!

I think of Jiminy as the better option for snowmaking/groomed trails. BEast has them beat by a mile for natural terrain. Seeing as the natural trails at BEast are unlit, I would go with Jiminy as the night session option. If you can swing mostly daylight (it's light until 5:30 - 6 pm now) go to BEast, especially given the new snow expected.

Berkshire East and Jiminy have very similar terrain options open at night - ~20 trails, all abilities. I've found Berkshire East's night crowds to be much less than those at Jiminy (I think I've night skied Jiminy 3-4 times). I've found Jiminy to be windier and colder at night.

Of course, if you go midweek non-holiday, you can't be the B-East deal - your full day or afternoon ticket also covers the night session.

Jiminy Peak has way more acreage lit up under night. Not even a comparison.

You might want to reconsider that statement - they have remarkably similar amounts of acreage lit. No contest back in the 90s, but in the last decade Berkshire East has opened Outback, War Dance, Katie's Run, and Roundabout for night skiing, along with the standard Big Chief/Flying Cloud/Competition/Top Notch/Exhibition/crossovers.

Get some official charts from the mountains and I might believe you... otherwise I think not only think Jiminy skis bigger at night but offers more acreage.

B-East-crowd numbers are the real clincher. With this snow, you'll get moguls on Cloud under the lights-I'll take that over afternoon grooming anyday (and no, The Beast doesn't do afternoon grooming-around here we're grateful when there's even any morning grooming!-nice thing is, tomorrow, they will leave a lot ungroomed for the day).

On a Saturday-after 8 (last two hours) the slopes are practically empty.

Hey and they finally got the Crazy Horse lounge open!

I'm not aware of either mountain maintaining official charts on their night skiing acreage. Perhaps it would be a good college extra credit project. Perhaps the interconnecting trails on Jiminy Peak's skiers' left, along with the long flats on the summit, make it seem to have more night terrain. Bottom line, both have similar vertical drops and night skiing acreage - in fact, both are amongst the top night skiing facilities in the northeast (along with Shawnee Peak).

Jiminy has more of a fancy resort feel, Beast is more layed back NE style. They are both good at what they do and either one is great for night session.
