In this day and age, customer service is almost non existent. However, I have a found a few businesses with exceptional customer service. I think the few that do remain deserve recognition, plus, it might get Greg some advertising $ :)

A couple that come to mind for me are:

Steepandcheap.com aka backcountry.com - Great customer service, great guarentee
Sierratradingpost.com - Same as above.

In both cases I need to return items never and issue. In the case of Steepandcheap, needed advice, always got great assistance.

surpisingly there is a snowboard binding company (technine) that offers a life time warranty on there bindings. i had a ratchet get rusted after 3 years and break. Then they sent me all new ones for free. their stuff is solid (a little heavy) but its on my splitty. i wouldn't put my burton P1's on my touring setup. so i was very impressed. if where talking non snow sliding i actually keep a list of companies that have done right by me.

An advertiser on this site. Mike has helped me out on more than one occasion and deserves huge kudos!!

SierraSnowboard.com
Sierra Jim is a most excellent man!

PMGear!
When I got my Bros, the boys there bent over backwards to see to it that I was happy with my purchase!
Bindings for the Bros were mounted by Skiershop!:D

Stowe Mt Resort. When ESA attended there during marginal conditions, Stowe was amazing at snow making and grooming to provide as much terrain as possible. Not an easy task at the time.

Absolutely! They're the ones I bought my Roxy Joyriders from and didn't realize until I skied on them that they were a mismatched pair. D'oh! I contacted them to question it and they had me return the mismatched pair for a brand new pair at no charge to me (they even paid the return shipping on the mismatched pair!).  Awesome company that will get my business again.

Trader Joe's employees are always friendly and even fun. Their signage and the general look of their stores are fun and inviting.

Lake Compounce in Bristol, CT is focussed on customer service.

The service at Lester's BBQ in Burlington, MA is usually excellent.

Worst customer service:
The Hudson, MA TC Lando's location. (steak and cheese sub shop chain) Unless one of the owners is helping you, they almost make you feel bad for calling in an order and then again when you show up.

Bump for another LL Bean compliment...

Bought a pair of winter boots several years ago. One of the buckles broke a few years ago (they are the type with plastic buckles). Decided to take them in to a nearby outlet store...walked out with a store credit for the last amount that the boots cost. No hassles.

Patagucci.

Sears, specifically replacement of craftsman tools (lifetime, they just swap it out for a new one no questions asked).

LL Bean does have exceptional customer service. I have been a huge customer of theirs for years. Just one example of their service:

A couple years ago I had a sleeping back I bought about 10 years prior and the zipper broke. I took it in to have it repaired and they talked me into just getting a new sleeping bag. I stressed that I was happy with the bag and just wanted the zipper fixed, but they were concerned that the repair department was backed up and I would be without it for a couple weeks, and they insisted on a new one. So, I head down to the camping dept. for my replacement, and explained why I was there. The floor person couldn't have been nicer. When I went back to the service dept to complete the transaction they asked me how much I paid for the first one. The price I told them was about $40 higher than the replacement bag, but I stressed that I wasn't 100% sure what I paid for the original one. Apparently their computers were down, so they couldn't look up the price of the original bag, so they insisted we proceed based on the price I remembered and asked if I wanted cash or credit for the difference. I protested strongly that the replacement bag was more than sufficient and didn't want any additional compensation. They weren't having it. She just kept asking, cash or credit, so I chose credit such that it would at least end up costing them less that way. I went in looking to have a zipper fixed and left with a new sleeping bag and a $40 gift card, and they couldn't have been friendlier about it!

This is just one of many tales of outstanding customer service from LL Bean.
