Resort or Ski Area: Blue Mountain Ski Area
Conditions: Cold. Good man-made groomed snow.
Trip Report: My second day at Blue this year. Great day overall. Started out cold when I left the house 16*F. 18*F when I got to Blue. Booted up inside today. Blue actually had the dudes building the outdoor patio today. I felt bad for those dudes. On the snow by 9:30. I started the day out on my Head Monster iM70's. I'm going to give this ski to my brother, so I wanted to get a few last runs on them, as they were my first shaped ski. Vista was smooth, with fresh cord. Midway was grippy and Main Street was nice, with some death cookies ranging from the size of marbles to small mice. Did one more run on Main Street. I'm not used to having Upper Main Street fully groomed. It was really fun and grippy.
Met up with Toast and we headed over to Lazy Mile which was the run of the day today. Some of the same sized death cookies as Main Street on the top 1/3 of the trail. We both were surprised how great it was skiing. After that run I wanted to get on to my Crossfires and Toast was going to hit up the park. After changing sticks, I saw AngryHugo and we chatted for a few minutes. Tons of snow making and grooming was going on in prep for tomorrow. Sat. Later in the day the sun came out and softened up the skiers left side of Lazy. By the end of the day, the last section of Lazy before the lift was pure bliss. Totally effortless skiing. I did a total of 14 runs and then called it for the day.
Forecast is looking good, I might be bringing the Jet Fuels out sooner than I thought!
Picture time!
