Boston to Smuggs? Best route?

Never been to Smuggs, but would like to use up my WM freebie this week. And as much as I would like to ignore the fact that the pass is closed and HAVE to ski Stowe, upon recalling this once I get there, free is free.

But looking at the directions, I'm confused...From Boston, is it easier to take the Waterbury exit and do a loop through Morrisville (like their site says), or shouldn't I simply drive a bit further up 89 and take the exit for 15E?

The latter seems like a hell of a lot less trouble, but then again, I've never been there....what's the verdict?

And the verdict can't be ski Stowe. So, thanks in advance.

I usually come up from the NYC area and take 15 out of Burlington but I have come up from the White River Junction area and took 100 up past Stowe to Morrisville then 15 east to Johnson and Jeffersonville. It's about an hour around the mountain but it's an easy drive. I see no advantage in going to Burlington and approaching from the other direction.

The route up 100 to Mo-ville, and then west on 15 is probably the best. Route 100 slows down before Stowe and through Stowe, but once you pass that it is easy. Taking Exit 15 E off of 89 puts you in the middle of Burlington Suburbia with all of its strip development, stop lights, etc. It is not fast or easy.

Boston to Smuggs,

93N to 89, 89 to 100N, 100N to 15W, 15 W to 108 S.

Almost....93N, 89, waterbury exit to 100N, thru Stowe bear LEFT on Stagecoach road, about a mile from the 3 way stop in Stowe. Straight thru 4 way stop. LEFT at next stop. LEFT onto mainstreet Hyde Park. Straight thru 3 way stop on main street Hyde Park. Bear Right at end of Mainstreet Hyde park. Left at blinker ono 15 W. Thru Johnson, left on 108S in Jeff.
The back way thru Hyde Park save you 10-15 minutes. 100 thru morrisvile is sucky.
