Dates Skied: 1/29 through 2/3

Resort or Ski Area: Breckenridge, CO

Conditions: Variable, mostly packed powder

Trip Report: This was my first time to Breck. We had a great time, even though that big Denver storm stayed east of the mountains and we only got like 3-4" on the upper mountain.

We spent most of our time in the woods. We were all over Peak 10, The Burn was lots of fun and had some small powder stashes left from the week before. The stuff off 6 Chair was good early in the week before it got too tracked out. Same with Ore Bucket over on Peak 7. We also found some good glades under the base of the T-Bar. Nice snow in there and really fun terrain.

The first half of the week the Imperial Chair was closed, so we hit the T-Bar a few times and did some runs down the Horseshoe Bowl. The snow was pretty packed and wind blown so it was really chattery on a board. It was hard to keep from sliding out on my heel edge, and with all the exposed rocks that got a little scary, but still fun.

Wednesday, they opened the Imperial. The rest of my group had gone to Vail that day but I stayed back because my friend was due to arrive and I had to be there to let him in the condo. So, in the morning I went up Imperial and traversed across to the Peak 7 Bowl. Snow was better up there as it was fairly untracked, but still far from ideal. Thin cover exposing lots of rocks made it a cautious ride down. I'm glad I did it though. I've never been on terrain like that before. I rode down the bowl into Ore Bucket and then bombed the groomers to the base. Really long, fun run.

Towards the end of the week, we started hitting The Windows on Peak 9. They were awesome. Decent snow, super steep and technical with some drops thrown in. Definitely a challenge on a board but so much fun.

Friday, I jumped into some random glades on Peak 9 and ended up finding a cool little cabin for safety meetings. Met some cool Aussies that hooked me up. It made a nice end to the trip.

Apres Ski: We hit up a bunch of places. Great food and beer at the Breck Brewery. I tried some pretty good stuff at the Absinthe Bar, and we danced like a bunch of D-bags at the Gold Pan on Friday night. We also did the tour of the Coors Brewery on the way back to the airport. Good times. All in all, a great vacation.

glade you got to ski from Imperial Chari over to Peak 7. That's a cool feeling skiing from the top of a mountain.

The windows are pretty cool as well. There is a cool little shack in there as well, i guess you didn't find that one.

where its snowing
thanks for the TR. Would love to see some pics if you captured them.

Good to know about all the rocks. If it starts snowing over the next 5-10 days, hopefully I can avoid them under the cover of white.

Actually, we saw one down line #3 but it was kinda busted up.
