Date(s) Skied: February 4, 2008

Resort or Ski Area: Burke Mountain

Conditions: MG/LG

Weather: Sunny skies giving way to clouds, temps in the 20's.

2007-2008 Report # : 32

Trip Report: Another great day on the slopes. After the recent warm weather and r&*n, Burke had done a nice job blowing snow and grooming things out. Anything that had been groomed for Monday was nice, anything groomed Sunday was either a bit scraped off or rough.

First run was down Powderhorn, which was not bad. It had been groomed on Sunday. With the new snow from this week, I imagine it is stellar.

East Bowl was next. Despite being groomed on Sunday, it skied well and the base is nice. The sunshine was a welcome treat.

I did laps on Carriage Road and then Willoughby. I'd have to say that Lower Willoughby was the ROTD. Nice soft groomed LG.

I skied from 9:30 until 4pm, doing laps on the groomers mainly. I did not do Wilderness. I imagine that it is in good shape now.

Around 11:30 they finally opened Lower Dippers, which had been closed for 'phantom' race training...phantom because NOBODY was using it. The corduroy was nice.

Mountain Marsh and Little Dipper were a bit rough...and I was :x to take the skis on them...nice base mind you, but we need some snow on top of it.

I found Upper Bear Den and Camper's Carry to be the same. No Ledges because of icing.

I did a couple of spins on the Poma and found Upper Warren's to be decent, but skied out from the racing.

The sun was nice and I did take lunch at the top...just in time for the clouds to roll in...oh well.

Overall, a beautiful morning with impeccable grooming and frost covered trees. Amazing photo ops...

Take a piece of advice. Don't get married and build a house in the same year. If you do, make sure to put in some sort of clause that says "I am guaranteed at least 20 days of skiing this coming winter" and stick to it. I didn't make this clear enough and now I have a house with a great view of Burke Mtn and no time to go ski it. You reports are frustrating me even more :-x

edited to change 15 days to 20 days :)

Wow. That REALLY suck NEK. Sorry I have missed you. FWIW the last two or three weeks have been "average" and not "stellar." I think that just changed.....
