According to the 5/28/08 Caledonian Record, the planned golf course at Burke has been put on the side burner (i.e. not part of "Phase 1"). It was hard to tell from the article if this was a complete canning of the golf course plan or if it will come back for phase 2 (Ginn did spend a lot of money buying up the property to put in the course).
There goes my theory of Ginn turning Burke into a summer golf getaway for their Florida property owners.
They are still planning on moving ahead with phase 1 which includes the Summit HSQ and condo, lodging developments, near the former Old Cutter Inn.
Is this scaleback of plans a reflection of the currently weaked economy or a sign of the future of Ginn's commitment to Burke? Time will tell and that is probably why they have a long range development plan that covers 10-15 years.
