Trip report, kinda rambling and no pics, sorry.

Made the go desicion Thursday night to head north with friends.
Friday morning saw Jay had another 16" but high winds projected. Made exec desicion to go to Burke which got maybe 10-12 inches (??) Mild winds, crowded, but only by Burke standards. Maybe 10 min wait at most which soon subsided. 100% open. Everything was open, some, moreso then others (liftline looked fun but a tad "chunky" in spots). Even at 3:30 PM, birches still the money. Guessing powerline was my fav trail and every glade was a hoot. Later heard the access rd to Jay was a cluster $%##@ and tram was on windhold, flyer too but they got it spinning slow later.

Sunday was JP. Got to stateside by 7:30. Wind honkin, they got another 16 inches to put their 4 day total near 4 feet! First ride up the the bonnie; everyone whooping as people came down killin it. First run was Can Am which had boot/knee deep to higher from the piles now forming. That run usually scares me when its scraped but it skied like a blue trail with the pow. Proceeded to hit any nearby glade that can be accessed from the bonnies before moving to the flyer with northwest passage/ north woods being awesome beyond anything I could imagine. After hitting area glades went up the flyer again and followed the now forming conga line hiking up to the tram house (tram not spinning yet). 20 min later decided face was probably still above my pay grade and opted for valhala which was the most awesome run of the day for me. You could straightline it, kick in 3 foot drift and bounce around any obsticle. I'm still smiling thinking about it. Tram started spinning shortly after we skied back to the bonnie.
Moved later to the flyer before calling it the day at 1:30, legs spent and still had a 6 1/2 hr ride back to Jersey.

Yesterday at Jay was my best ski day ever.

I was at Jay for the first chair on Saturday... having left NYC at 11pm, I got to the parking lot at 7:15am (as it took me an hour to get up the last hill with the crappy tires on my rental car).

First chair was epic... and it pounded snow all day. By the end of the day i was skiing 3 feet of fresh in the woods. Unreal day...

this was my second best day ever on the east coast (December 15, 2007 was unforgettable)

Sounds like Jay rocked. Unfortunately, Burke doesn't produce up slope in the same amounts as Jay. The northern Green Mtn spine is a special place during a storm like that. Way to get after it.

What an epic weekend!

After getting an early skin to get the first trax down the Jet, we managed to lap fresh snow thru 3:30 before calling it a day on saturday. Snow was crazy on saturday and it kept coming down harder and harder.

Saturday night, the wind picked up but snow kept pilling on. By 9PM everyone was in bed only to be able to get there by opening time the next day. We pulled up to a fresh blanket all across the mountain. Wind died down to the point where the flyer was enjoyable and we lapped it plenty getting great snow everywhere. Exhibition was AMAZING. So much loose snow off the ridge: we lapped it twice! We left the resort completely beating up at 3:15.

Think we made the most of it!

Now let's pray for another weekend with fresh snow: we deserve it!

Have you tried taking 87 all the way up to Rouses Point? It's substantially quicker.

We were staying in Lyndon to:
a) keep our options open
b) last minute decision made finding lodging very hard as it was on everyones agenda

We have always included Burke in our plans so hence the above. But if we do JP only, thanks for the tip. I'm a big fan of 287 to 87. Hate the $%#$#@@% parkway

i need to check that route. i used to take 87 to crownpoint bridge for all NVT destinations, but since the bridge construction i've been going up through fort anne/whitehall.
