There is a sign at Berkshire East with the exact same policy. Which I only noticed when my son fondled six different hot dogs before choosing one.

If the food product is sealed or covered in a bag, say dogs burgers then it should not be problem. Was the chili containor covered or open ?

I spent plenty of time in kitchens myself as a younger buck, and there is no way the thought of reorganizing some other establishments food on their behalf would cross my mind. Do you start waiting other tables when their drinks aren't filled timely also at restaurants?

What is policy pretty much everywhere is once a customer touches food you can't take it back and serve it to someone else. A person who works in the service industry knows this well.....

Seems a bit heavy handed, but customer relations is probably last on the list of ideal skills for a fry cook.

If it's a sealed/packaged container, it's perfectly normal behavior. When you change your mind about which bottled drink to buy from the fridge, what do you do? Put it back and pick up the other one. Not to mention how any other item that's sealed/packaged in a convenience store or grocery store gets handled.

If it's an open container, like how fries are often put out for self-serve I'm more sympathetic to the argument.

Touching actual food...sure...but if it is in a container and sealed, that's different. And if an establishment wants to throw stuff away because someone touched it, that's on them. Zero chance I'm paying for something just because I touched it. I'd sooner walk out and buy nothing at all if they had that attitude rather than pay for something I don't want.

Stupid to punish your customers like this. Say I spot a nicer basket of chicken tenders in the second row. If I accidentally brush against another basket in the crowded rack I have to pay for both ? If they are that concerned about food safety, they should do away with the self-service area entirely, and require you to ask an employee (gloved, presumably) to hand you your basket of fries.

Dude it was on a self serve rack in a sealed container. My point of contact was literally my index finger sliding it forward.

Im not even mad and will forever be a fan of the mountain just thought it was a real weird transaction and hoping they figure out the customer service thing better. They're obviously still working stuff out.

Well personnnnnallllyyyyyy.... If I'm self-serving say a basket of fries and I see two that are maybe a bit tangled up with each other I'll grab one and try to bump loose as many fries as possible from the other basket into the "common" rack space and then snatch up those extra loose fries. Pro move to help y'all get your money's worth there; you're welcome😉😅

I bet when the the place is crowded and lots of people moving through the lines, staff is busy this happens constantly and now one notices or enforces this. just think of what goes on at the self fill beverage stations in FF restraunts how containors and caps etc are handled. You go to take 1 containor cover and several stick together, you take one what happens to the others you touched ?
