LINCOLN, New Hampshire — Loon Mountain is once again calling all alternative sliders to demonstrate their skills and creativity on the snowy slopes March 20. The only catch is, the guidelines require the snowsliders to construct their sleds from cardboard. In previous years, Cardboard Classic Race enthusiasts have hit the slopes with everything from couches, cars and animals - all made from discarded corrugated cardboard boxes. Anyone may enter and registration is free, but limited to the first 75 entrants.

Registration is scheduled from 9:30 to 11 a.m., March 20, in Loon Mountain's Governor's Lodge. Post time is slated for noon on the Coolidge Street trail. Cash prizes will be awarded in three categories: Best Use of Cardboard, Best Crash and Fastest Time. An awards ceremony will take place in front of the Loon Mountain Competition Center immediately following the race.

The Cardboard Box Classic is just one of the season's favorite events as Loon celebrates "King of Spring." Looking ahead to April 9, Loon will host its popular Slush Pool Party when skiers and riders take their shot at skimming across a pool of slush at high speed. Loon's Slush Pool Party is always good for laughs and numbing spills.
