I am planning on bringing my wife and daughter up to Burke Mountain on President's weekend. Mainly because they will probably have the lightest crowds of all the major VT resorts. I have been corresponding with their lodging specialist and she showed me a great deal at the Carriage House and she says its only about a mile from the lifts.

Has anybody stayed here before? What's it like? Should I book it?

This is the old Cutter Inn. I stayed here a couple times prior to Burke owning it. At the time, it was a bit dated - old decor in the not-quite-sparkly bathrooms, random, old decor in the bedrooms. Rooms were good size. Restaurant there was a gem, sigh.

As for the rooms, I hope they'd have spruced it up. The setting is country, and just down the road from either mid-Burke, or just up the road from the Base area.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll book it. The deal is just too good to pass up.

I've never been to Burke before. Is there anything "family like" to do in the evenings after the lifts have closed? Trying to keep the little one occupied....

As said, Carriage House is a new thing for Burke using the Cutter.

As to entertainment, if it is a weekend, the mountain has sledding and some other low key events at Sherburne. Not much else though. Be creative. Bowling in St. Jay. Movies in St. Jay.

In addition to sledding, and live entertainment at the Tamarack, they most likely will have a movie night and arts and crafts for the kids.

Also, if you didn't get enough skiing in during the day you can head into Lyndonville and check out the Lyndon Outing Club for some night skiing.

Or catch a High School hockey game at the Lyndon ice arena (also public skating here if the weather isn't cooperative).

The Carriage House is not real fancy but it is comfortable and close to the mtn. Not ski out, but you can almost ski back to it if you plan your route off the upper mtn correctly.
