Date(s) Hiked:10-8-06

Trails(s) Hiked:Signal Ridge Trail

Total Distance: 10 mi RT

Total Vertical: 3400

Difficulty:Hard (but consistent)

Conditions: perfect

Special Required Equipment: Boots

Trip Report:

This is the trip we all dream about. Crystal clear 100+ mile views, no wind, and 55-60 degrees the whole way. I could see all the Whites except the ones obscured by other mountains (IE Franconias, Washington primarily). I had the tower to myself for the first 10 mins and shared it with 2 others for about 50 minutes before I went back to my car. I saw a whole torrent of people when I descended in a 45 min block so I bet it was pretty crowded around noon.

Great shots, now I won't feel bad if I on't get there this fall. I love the view & feeling of being in the Alpine Zone on Signal Ridge, even better than the Carrigain sumiit.

I am green with jealousy. I didn't get a chance to make it up there. Instead, went hiking with wife and 5 yr old son in Wendell Brook State Park in Ashby, MA on Sunday and drove up Pack Monadnock on Monday. My son is really getting into tramping around in the woods, so, hopefully we'll be up in the Whites in a few years' time.
