Catskill Mtns Snowmakers - Awesome Job

The snowmakers in the Catskills mountains are doing an awesome job. With all the cold weather, frozen ground, and frozen ponds, I would say MOST , not all, but MOST trails are opened. Excellent job by the hard working snowmakers taking advantage of all the cold weather.



Belleayre's pic of the day today looks like everybody's favorite trail Dot Nobel may be opened soon. Hunter has Belt Parkway and many other trails opened. Windham posted this Ode to Snowmakers

If your thinking its too early to ski given last years results and all the talk about global warming, you would be wrong.

I've been really impressed with my first season out here. Amazing coverage given how little natural snow has fallen.

I went to Hunter yesterday and was amazed to see how by the first week on December they had every single black diamond open but for the connector Mad Box and Drop Off. I mean last year we did not see this until late January.

Also, it was that they just had these trails open but they build up some huge mounds on East Side Drive which will be helpful if the weather warms up.
