Just announced today in the Kingston Daily Freeman. Cheaper electric power from Canada coming to Albany to New York City. I am sure there will be some left over unused KWs to reduce the price of snowmaking.
The U.S. Department of Energy has issued a presidential permit for the Champlain Hudson Power Express project, a 336-mile power line that will carry lower-cost Canadian hydroelectric power to New York City along a route that includes the Hudson River.
The permit was announced by Transmission Developers Inc., which last year received state Public Service Commission approval for the 1,000-megawatt project, which has been in the planning process since 2008. Such a permit is needed for the construction and operation of electric transmission lines at the United States’ international borders.
