This has been in the wind for some time. Is that Bob R from AZ they're quoting?

Vail has a bunch of cash...... .make it so.

But Vail wouldn't be running these properties. They would only be the landlord for someone else to ru. Their business on.
Interestingly acording to that article CNL is not looking to sell all of their resorts, only thr larger ones. Jiminy Peak is also owned by them but not mentioned in the list of places they are trying to sell.

This is the best chance we may see of Vail making a move into the northeast.

As said, the REIT that owns the land is considering getting out of the game. Boyne and the other tenants are going to remain the same. It seems like a lot of "improvements" have been funded by both the tenant and CNL, so perhaps that might make a difference.

The improvements are solely funded by the tenant. CNL will finance these improvements but only as a bank.
Also tenants renting from CNL are required to put X% of their profits back into improvements of the land every season.

Very interesting.

I don't think it is a much better chance then Vail has currently. Even if they bought a CNL property, they would still have to buy out the Lease Agreement from the current operator. Having CNL selling isn't going to lower the price or make the operator any more willing to sell.

Hah! CNL REITs! I advised several people, including my own Mother (who's financial adviser was peddling this unholy crap at the time) to stay away from it with a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole.
