I'm not sure I am impressed with them only opening upper and lower blast off opening day. They always boast about how exstensive there system is yet it took them so long to get started on snowmaking. And why would they only blow snow on one trail at a time? Maybe I am being selfish but after having more sucess than most eastern resorts last year I figured they would put out some good early season snow.

Perhaps the Muellers are focusing more of their investment towards Okemo and Crested Butte this year as talks have stalled regarding expansion at Sunapee and the investment doesn't make as much sense?

They usually start slower at Sunapee and DO focus on Okemo early. Upper Blastoff is OK, Lower is kind of a drag.

It would be nice if they pushed harder earlier, but they will make up for it down the line. By Christmas they should be in really good shape.

Weather probably hurt them....the cold air hasn't been around too long. And also they have been focusing on other mountains I'm sure. Certainly this brief warm up was forecasted for a while....a lower elevation mountain may not be too keen on making snow only to have it melt..especially with energy and labor costs being what they are.

That said, Sunapee hasn't traditionally been an "early season" mountain anyways....

They are lower elevation compared to most the resorts that open earliest with the summit at 2700'

They still consider Flyway a trail? Jeez... Killington might as well consider the traverse around the KBL a trail... or maybe Sugarbush should consider the drop from Valley House to Gate House a trail.

I do love Skyway Ledges/Westside though.
