Here is an excellent report by Walter Cronkite on LBJ entering the Vietnam War over the Tonkin's Phantom Attack. The actual declassified tapes between LBJ and McNamara can be heard. If you like history, remember the Vietnam war on your TV every night, lost a loved one of the 58,000 that died in Vietnam or one of the soldiers that fought in Vietnam, then this is a must read and listen.

Yes, I heard this last night on NPR. It is eerily similar to the times now--especially with LBJ's concern of losing to Goldwater.

I've studied the conflict at length during my last year at Middlebury--the broadcast did not surprise me too much, but it was interesting to hear LBJ's actual voice and to hear Cronkite's take on it all.
