De Marchi Thermal Bib Short - Men's

BK.jpg

Most cyclists who have turned cranks in anger during the cold months of the year have a preference of tights, knickers, or warmers. Even Competitive's office is divided over the debate. If you fall in the latter camp, then you likely appreciate the flexibility of De Marchi's Thermal Bib Shorts. When it's just chilly out, they protect your core; by adding knee or leg warmers, you can ramp up their protection for rides in winter temperatures.
The shorts' active ingredient is De Marchi's Roubaix-Type fabric, which has a soft, brushed lining for comfortable touch on your skin and temperatures in your microclimate. Nothing's worse than overheating at the very start of a cool-weather ride and spending a miserable fall morning spinning in a clammy chill, so De Marchi incorporated ventilating panels in the back. This means the Thermal Bib Shorts don't just insulate; they also regulate, keeping your body's temperature in the ideal range while evacuating any moisture from the inside.
The fit is designed with pre-shaped panels that conform to your body while in the cycling position, and the nylon and Lycra blend of the Roubaix material provides gentle compression and a firm, secure feel. The seams are all flatlock stitched to eliminate abrasion during repetitive motions like pedaling. The shorts provide less coverage over your stomach than De Marchi's corresponding knickers and tights, so you have more control over your upper body layering, too.
In the only substantial change from the previous edition, De Marchi upgraded the Thermal Bib Shorts to EIT's Endurance HP chamois, which is designed to provide enough comfort for base-building rides of two or three hours. It also has a low enough bulk to accommodate chamois-free tights for more insulation on longer rides in colder temperatures.
