I posted this on LiveOncEnjoy.com as well.
On Friday Dec 10, C Web, Lindsey and I utilized opening day at Blue Mountain half off tickets and skied for the better part of the mid day.
Arriving around 11:00am, we stood on line which was not that long but seemed to move slower than usual. When we got to the ticket counter, we found out why. Blue Mountain is implementing a new ticket system which is reusable so you can purchase subsequent lift tickets online in advance and never have to stand in line for the future. BRILLIANT! They need to shake off a few quirks but overall the system seems like it will be a great improvement.
Only the first 2 lifts were open which really leaves you with a partial blue square, a green circle, and Blue Mountain Black Diamonds (Icy, steep, bumpy). But the snow was being made and you can see it add up with every hour you were out there. By 3:00pm there was the aid of a natural snow.
The temperature was right around mid 20's but did not feel that cold on the mountain. The lift of course always exaggerates the cold, especially when you reach the crest of the mountain.
I took a few runs of footage plus some extra and will put together a short video sometime in the next few days. Overall, for less than 25 bucks, it was easily a bang for your buck type of day.
