I saved a file of snowpack depth from December 29th, 2006:

The hole of missing snow in the mid-west is filled in this year and snowcover is far more extensive in Southern New England this year.

Also, let's not forget it snowed during the last week of December last year. If the comparison had been for last week pre-Christmas, those images would provide an even more stark contrast.

Just wait until the 1st week of January and do an '07/'08 comparison, that would really see a stark contrast baring a major unforseen week long tropical blast hitting the Northeast this week!

Don't forget January 6th 2007 was the warmest January day ever for about the entire northeast... I don't think last year will even come close to this year until at least MLK... and thats if it gets really warm this year.
