unreal. Not to pig pile but i cant believe easy and this topic could ever be combined. I know what you are getting at hardline, but that far up, any slight misjudgement in his take off is amplified. If he lands too far down that on the flats, its gotta be multiple broken bones. If he hangs up on the lip, i shudder to think what the consequences would be.

granted, but quarter pipes are much easier that having to travel distance and clear a gap. back when my body was able, a 75ft gap scared me way more than hiting a quarter pipe at mach speed. to put this all in perspective. all of it is damn dangerous and you could really hurt yourself if you don't know what you are doing.

I wonder what Dumont would say having had that horrific crash where he over shot the gap.

thats a valid point.

anyway, that is some sick stuff. I still remember that kid in the xgames last year who landed on the flats in the skateboard halfpipe thing. both his shoes blew off upon landing. it was amazing he wasnt killed. granted, wood is less forgiving then snow but a 60 foot qtr pipe plus 38 feet of air is disgustingly sick.

No way is this easy. Perhaps physically, it isnt that bad, one migh argue, for an elite athlete in top shape. But for most of us? pretty difficult.

And i think for everyone, elite athlete's included, its got to be even more difficult mentally.

Of course, all the above brings to mind non-skiing elite athletes trying such a jump. Picture Tiger Woods, Eli Manning, or Kevin Garnett...lol.

anyone see the Rob and Big episode on MTV were Rob's 6 foot 7 bodyguard (not Big, some other dude) decides he wants to go BMX bike jumping? pretty funny.

i wasn't that impressed. quarter pipes are pretty easy. up and down. as long as the top of the lip kicks you out right and you land right back in the tranny. on a stranger note i once saw Terje after a night of partying do a one foot method at the hospital quarter at uvm after we indulged the night before. i was impressed to say the leased. he is an amazing rider.

It sounds to me like you are bitter about the fact a skier broke the old quarterpipe record held by a snowboarder. This should be no suprise that a skier went higher than a snowboarder on a quarterpipe.

If anyone has watched the Xgames over the past few years, it is quite obvious that snowboarders struggle to come even close to the height that skiers get in the superpipe. For the most part, skiers probably double the amount of amplitude of most boarders. I can't wait for ski superpipe to get into the olympics because the world will be blown away by how much bigger skiers go compared to snowboarders.

yeah that was a miracle, i couldn't believe my eyes that he actually walked off the ramp. the dumont thing is crazy impressive (it doesn't matter what was attached to his feet) because he actually threw a technical trick, not just a boring air to get the record (then we could possibly talk about easy).
