Easton EC70 Trail 29in Wheel

ONECOL.jpg

Easton built its new EC70 Trail 29in Wheel in the same spirit as its top-end EC90 XC and Haven carbon wheels, albeit at a much more attainable price. With the 29in wheel serving as the go-to for confidence-inspiring stability and smooth ride-quality, Easton chose to apply its proven carbon wheel technology to its new EC70 in this rim profile. The result is a set of all-around 29in trail wheels that are lighter, stiffer, and stronger than their aluminum counterparts.
Easton created a perfectly-tuned weapon for a variety of race and trail applications by applying light and durable components to the EC70s' build. For the rims, Easton followed much of the same design approach used in the EC90 and Haven's, minus the ABC (Armored Ballistic Composite) material and UST tubeless compatibility. However, these wheels are easily converted to tubeless with a number of aftermarket tubeless-ready kits. By building the rims with its EC70 carbon layup in favor of ABC, Easton was able to shrink the price of the wheels considerably, yet still maintain the torsional stiffness and compliant ride quality that its carbon wheels are known for. The 20mm rim width is perhaps the key to the wheel's versatility, as it's appropriate for an all-around 2.2- or 2.3-inch wide tire. And at 1,460 grams for the set, these wheels are much stronger than any aluminum set of wheels in this same weight category.
The EC70's M1 hubs are the same CNC-machined units that you'll find on the EC90 XC wheels. The shells are crafted from black 7050 T-6 aluminum in order to complement the overall stealthy look of the wheelset. Sealed cartridge bearings keep your wheels running smoothly, even after spending your season riding through miles of wet and dusty trails. The freehub body is made from the same 7050 alloy, saving a few grams over a typical steel part. Black double-butted straight pull spokes finish off the build, oriented in the tried-and-proven three-cross lacing pattern. And, like all of Easton's wheels, The EC70s are entirely hand-built and acoustically tuned. Meaning that they'll stay straight and true for long periods of time.
The Easton EC70 Trail 29in Wheel is available in the color Black and is sold individually. The front wheel is offered as either a 9x100QR or 15mm thru-axle, however it's capable of being converted either way with the appropriate parts from Easton. The rear hub is convertible and includes all the parts that you'll need to run a 10x135 QR or 12x135mm and 12x142mm thru-axles. The EC70 wheels carry Easton's standard two-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
