elk has recovered nicely from the thaw...according to one local i spoke with they got spared any r--n over the weekend, which helped...they received an inch of snow on tuesday night and it squalled on an off throughout the day with periods of bright sunshine...groomed runs were fast, carveable hardpack and man-made sugar drifts...all runs open except lehigh and upper seneca, which was thin

tunkhannock was in good shape on skiers left all morning, started to get scraped off after noon...lackawanna headwall was ungroomed, piles of man made, starting to get soft bumps formed...kept going back there all day...each time it was like a different run based on where the piles re-formed after each person went down...

very few people there...mostly older passholders and students...ski-on all day, wide open runs...using new boots(xmas gift to myself)...first couple runs were the adjustment period, but by the end of the day was very comfortable and happy with their performance...good day

Nice report. I would imagine they've been blowing at night to refresh everything all week and maybe with a little help from mother nature this weekend should be great. Your getting around Spring_Mt_High and its been a good start to the NEPA season. I have to ski Frost this Sunday for my sons race, Sno on the 16th, Blue on the 30th and get to Elk on Feb 6th.

I have to say I was at Elk 12/23 and felt the same. They got dumped on the night before and the conditions were great. Tunkhannock was GREAT. At the time Lackawanna was thin but rideable and on almost every lift we were skiing RIGHT up to the lift. No line at all..... Left the City at 5am and was at Break fast in Forest City at 7:30. 2.5 hours travel with the Car on Cruise at 75 almost the entire way. It was a record!!!!!
