Hi all, just wondered if any of you guys can help me and my mate john out,
I fly from manchester to newark then to boston then rutland, only thing is continental have changed the time of the rutland flight, which only gives us about half an hour to change flights, does anyone know if thats enough time to make the plane change or is it a bit tight,
the original times gave us 2 hours, but that has drasticly dwindled dont know how far we have to go in the airport, to get to the gate for the rutland plane? how long do they keep the gate open? I presume they will have a shut off time, It bothers me that we wont make the plane in time,

Have any of you guys had this situation and got through ok,
WELL HERES HOPING,
Noodles

If I follow you you will have 30 min to change flights at Logan. Personally I think that's alittle tight perhaps a call to Continental would be pro-active on any tips to make it work.

If you need any help with directions getting to your destination from Rutland let us know.

Unless the flight to Rutland is a shuttle flight, I think you'll be in the same wing of the terminal as where you land. Though, you may be coming in on a shuttle flight, in which case you'll be fine. If they're both shuttle flights, you'll definately be fine. Probably. You can ask when you get to Newark.

Huh - usually the airlines won't schedule anything less than one hour for any connecting flights. 30 minutes might be enough time to run to another gate, but I'd say it's 50-50 whether your bags make the transfer to another plane in that short time allotment. First of all I would double-check with your airline that the time is only 30 min to make your connection. Especially if you are changing airlines from Boston to Rutland. If you have to change planes/airlines and it's definitely only 30 minutes, I would make a big stink if they changed the schedule on you. I've been travelling on business all over the US for 20 years and I can't recall a scheduled 30-minute interval between flights. Make them accommodate you with a flight that allows you connecting time if possible.

The problem is if you're coming in from Newark to Boston on Continental, the flight from Boston to Rutland is very likely US Airways Express. And that would require you to get from terminal A to terminal B between flights. Not impossible on foot (the 2 terminals are next to each other), but it's a pain in the ass and there's a much greater chance your luggage doesn't make it when you switch airlines.

The other option to consider is to blow off the short connecting trip in a dinky turboprop and just drive from Boston to your destination in Vermont. It's only 3-4 hours max, and the drive is a lot of fun. Going almost anywhere in VT is mainly highway driving, and you shouldn't have too much trouble. Plus, driving on the right-hand side of the road in a snowstorm will give you lots of stories to tell your pals back home. Waiting around for a connecting flight in Boston will be an hour at least, flight time to Rutland (including time on the runway, etc) is another hour, getting your bags and rental car in Rutland is another hour, so that's 3 and you could just drive form Boston in that time. Better than missing your plane and/or losing your luggage.

Have fun - !

I thought the same thing since Logan to Rutland is more like 2 hours but since these folks are from across the pond maybe they are not comfortable driving on the wrong side of the road.

Edit: now I see where you get the 3/4 hour time. I guess I should give you guys from Lake George alittle more credit....lol

The only airline that flies from Rutland-Boston is Continental Connection, run by CommuteAir

Not familiar with Logan, but 30 minutes is tight. There must be lots of Newark/Boston flights...if you can, maybe you can get an earlier flight out of Newark?
