Bummer, it's been 20 years, but Kirkwood is pretty sweet.

That's what I hear. I've never skied Tahoe...one place I'd like to check out... Plus, so many to choose from, Kirkwood, Squaw, Alpine, and then Heavenly is huge too.

We stayed on the south shore one year... skied Heavenly one day... drove to Kirkwood the rest... imho - It BLOWS away Heavenly...

Their base sits around 7000ft, so they are the best bet when snow is scarce around there.

And the chutes are friggin sweet... :) Rock chutes... Tree chutes... man i love that joint..

Yeah, it's basically one long ridge so there's tons of terrain. Some sick bump runs too for you bumpers ...

Oh. At first I thought it was a lift fire.

For those not aware, Kirkwood and the surrounding area are powered by generators owned by the ski area which is what the fire was in (the generators).
