We got one a year ago, great camera (zoom could be better) but over all its small, easy to use, can edit vid and email to friends and family

ISSUE: the plastic cap that protects the lens cracked. Flip does not have replacements nor do they know how to fix...any suggestions>

Pop it off? I'm guessing it's a clear plastic sheet in front of the lense? Hard to see from the website pictures.

I've been looking at these lately as prices have been really cheap on the HD versions, $100-$150 range. I was thinking of getting one and in some manner attaching to my helmet to use as helmet cam.

I picked up a Ultra HD one at Costco(was last one of that model) around xmas. I ended up returning it because it would only take half a charge which seemed to be a know problem with that model. They did have the Mino there, but for $50 more didn't think it was worth it and decided to wait and see if the prices start coming down on them.

The one thing that I did not like is that the lens cover sticks out and isn't recessed in which makes it prone to getting scratched/cracking which happened to you.

Not sure how you would really attach it so it's stable(no IS), but if that is your plan get the Mino since it is small and light.

I just googled cracked flip lens and it sounds like they don't have the lens covers available.

Saw mention of supergluing a step-up ring fom an SLR, then screwing a cheap lens cover into that, which could work. Of course, the ring and cover together probably weigh more than the camera.
