I will be in the Denver area for the weekend of the 17th and looking for an affordable place to stay. I will be there by myself. So anything reasonably close to the mountains, even a shared ski lodge would work just fine. Any thoughts? Also this my first time skiing in CO. Which resorts would be worth checking out on a weekend in that area while I am out there? I would like to keep away from the big Martin Luther King weekend crowd if I can.

$65/night too much? Super 8 @Georgetown. Close to A-basin and Loveland. But a bit of a haul to the rest of the Summit County Zoos.

I'll be out there that weekend too. Got a Loveland 4-pack ($120 total). That's where I will be. Guarantee to be quiet since it's lesser known. But for a first tripper, you may not like to come back and have people say "Loveland, where?"...

Of the better known places, A-basin will probably be a little less busy than say, Vail! Another decent place I like is Copper Mountain. For whatever reason, these two tend to be somewhat less busy than the rest.

And come to think of it, I heard Beaver Creek is supposed to be a bit quieter too. I've never hit it on holidays so no personal experience.

FYI-A Loveland passholder can purchase one ticket per day @ 43. I'm pretty sure it's 43, just look in the parking lot. Copper that weekend will be a shitshow as will Vail and the rest of summit. A-Basin would probably be o.k. if you just ski mostly the Pali chair. Monarch is another small but fun area with a laid back vibe and legit terrain. Sunlight is real fun also. I would personally combine several of the lesser known areas if you want to avoid crowds. I agreee with the Georgetown suggestion for lodging.

Think I am going to land up in A-Basin for a day and Loveland for a day. Super 8 sounds good!! Maybe we can meet up and make a few runs together.
