The Caledonian Record published THIS yesterday claiming that all areas are doing well. Burke had a record day this past week...and I can tell you it was a busy one!

Here is what they said about Burke:

The Caledonian Record said:
Burke Mountain

Operating under new ownership this year, Burke Mountain has also seen record crowds. "All is well," general manager Charlie Hardiman said Thursday. "It's been a great season so far. The weather has cooperated, although today is less than spectacular."

Burke did not escape Thursday's rain, but that did not keep people away. With up to 24 inches of snow, the trails are holding up well, David Gwatkin of the marketing and sales department said.

"With Christmas on a Sunday, the week started out slow, picked up on Tuesday and broke records on Wednesday," Gwatkin said. The number of lift tickets sold combined with season pass holders brought the number of visitors to about 2,000 on Wednesday, he said. It was a day that also saw all-time record revenues from all departments.

The Ginn Company of Celebration, Fla., bought the ski area in November and has made a number of improvements to the area, including a new high-speed chair lift, expanded snowmaking and grooming capabilities and a complete renovation of the Sherburne Base Lodge. Four terrain parks which cater to freestyle skiers and riders from novice to expert are a big attraction, Gwatkin said.

The Tamarack Grill, a new restaurant at the base lodge has also drawn record numbers for lunch and dinner. "The restaurant has been hitting it out of the park," Gwatkin said. "I've heard nothing but compliments."

2,000? That's a slow night at Wawa.

Hopefully they get the summit lift fixed quickly. Sounded like they were having problems with it from the TRs.

While on the subject of broken lifts, the quad at ascutney wasn't working well at all the past week, breaking down for days and hours at a time. Also trails that had snoe were closed and trails that had huge bare patches just said thin cover at the entrance.
