Hey guys, I'm going to be going up to Stratton at the end of Jan for about 4 days with the girl. Last time I went up there, I stayed in Manchester. I liked it there and especially liked all the great restaurants, but I felt like it was a little too far from the mountain. Anyone know of any decent places that are maybe halfway between Manchester and Stratton? I tried looking at lodging at the mountain itself but it seems like it is pretty expensive for not even great facilities, but I also don't want to be too far from the restaurants in Manchester.

Edit - Looking for a regular hotel, not a B&B or private residence.

It also depends on how much you want to spend. Stratton has a lot of on or very close to on mountain lodging, but it might get pricey. The weekend after MLK weekend is usually not too crowded.

Stratton often has very good ski and stay packages, especially during off weekends, so I would call or go through the website (though follow up with a call because I have gotten better deals than through their website). In fact, despite the rep for being expensive, I have found their ski and stay deals to be as cheap as anyone's.

If we don't stay at the mountain, we usually stay in Manchester so can't help with other options (though we don't find the drive to the mountain too bad).

Sorry, should have specified the type of hotel I was looking for. I'm not really into B&B's and would prefer a regular hotel. Budget I'd say is between $100-$200 a night, preferably on the lower end of course.

I already have their X2 pass so I have a free day loaded up on there plus I should be getting their discount on the other days. I'm not sure if they would combine the X2 discount with any additional discounts for ski and stay packages.. anyone have experience with this?

The Inn at Stratton isn't awful and is pretty decently priced, too. Even includes breakfast. The condos are nicer, of course, but are much more money. We usually stayed at the Inn.

Otherwise, I recommed checking the 'vacation rentals' part of Craigslist. I used to have a good contact there, but only when I had a few more people to share with. However, her price is in your budget. I think her family typically uses the condo on holiday weekends, but shes worth a try. Very nice folks, beautiful condo, very close to the monutain, but not at the bottom.

Feel free to mention me, Ray Mossman, as a previous renter though I'm not sure how much it'll help you since she rents all season long and I'm just a face in the crowd.

There is not to much in between Stratton and Manchester, you can check the Three O'clock Inn in south londonderry if your looking to stay closer to the mtn. Its a little closer to mtn than manchester. Its under new ownership and I've heard the food is good but couldnt tell you much about the rooms. Like skidmrks said the Bromley View Inn is nice and thats about half way, but doesnt sound like thats what your looking for. There is a few hotels right on rt 11 and 30 as your heading towards winhall (redsled, tollroad inn, the chalet, and few others) that might be what your looking for.

Bob's is great. One of our favorite stops when in the area. We are headed up tonight and will hit Bob's at least once during our stay.

MANY years ago we used to stay here when skiing Stratton. it was cheap but clean.

http://www.riverbendlodgevt.com/

haven't been there in 15+ years tho.

That's about 15 or so minutes from our weekend place. It's right next to Bootsy's Grille. I've never stayed there, but it always looks clean and well kept.

The place skidmarks recomended is a bit north and will put you closer to Stratton.

I love Bob's burgers. Those things are tasty and HUGE!! The PBRs are great too. I jsut wish they stayed open past 3 on Sundays as I'd lvoe to hit it on the way home.
