So was thinking of Gore or Mt. Snow, but figured Gore would have less crowds. Drove up Saturday and tried to sleep in my car. -10 that night so was kind of warm LOL. To cold to sleep even in sleeping bag. Left Queensbury at like 7, hit up D&D for breakfast and changed in their bathroom. Got to the hill at 745 ish, got my ticket. Got on gondola at 830 when they opened. I don't name of most of the trails, but I know it was a bit wind blown and packed powder to. Went down trails to the left of the mid.lodge, very nice. Did 3 more runs off the Gondola before crowds came. Nice vertical and quick runs. Finally got over to the Dark side wow excellent steeps here. Hit up some marked glades, actually not nice in their. I love the views off the High peak chair. First time at gore in since 2009 , I love this place. Bluebird sky and temperature started in the teens but got really warm I guess upper 20s buy the time I left. I just wish they have the ski train run Sunday morning earlier then 10am so I can try it. Anyone who hasn't been to Gore really has some of steepest trails in all of the Northeast. If it were in the west the whole high peak could be back bowls, yes I'm dreaming.:)

Scotty, you are my hero! -10° and sleeping in your car, just don't wake up dead!

Gore is the first "big" resort I ever skied, it holds a special place in my heart. Great place on normally crowded days, very spread out. Did you see the heart shaped sign on a tree along the double, "Betty loved this trail", I always wondered if Betty bought the farm on the trail. Did you get over to Burnt Ridge? I like Sagamore over there. My last visit to Gore I forgot all about Burnt Ridge, and wouldn't have skied it at all if I hadn't skied Twister Glade, I popped out on Echo, it then dawned on me, doh, new terrain numbnuts. Glad you had a good time...and didn't freeze.

Happy birthday to your Sis, how old is she? Single? Can she type, or is it hereditary? WKBWC

I skied Gore once. About 3 years ago at the end of the season, on a Friday like April 16. (all 4 areas in the Catskills were closed for the season). It was like 65 degrees and the skiing was awesome.

Anyways we camped out a couple of times in the winter way back when I was in the Boy Scouts. One time it was -15 degrees at night. So you keep all your clothes on including your boots, boot socks, jacket, gloves, knit hat and climb into your sleeping bag... no one froze to death... the next morning we cooked breakfast over a campfire and the eggs and sausage instantly froze from the frying pan to your plate.

I'll just add on my pictures from Saturday to this report instead of making my own, sorry for the hijack, Scotty:

Great day for my girlfriend and I. She successfully skied a glade and all of the open double blacks. She's gone from avoiding moguls to voluntarily skiing into them and having a blast doing so.

Glad you enjoyed It, Scotty!

Nice pics bene, thanks for posting. Rambo, did you ski the pow at Greek? I heard they got 10" Can't wait to get home to 8 minute chairlift rides to earn 30 seconds of skiing. Nothing like returning to the molehill after skiing real mountains!

Burnt ridge I did 2 runs and it was nice, but the sun was not their in the morning so I kind of followed the sun and never got back to the ridge, definitely got to try it again. I did some glades that were lots of spacing in them and they were very cool. Thanks always good time and when I started the car I always open the window a bit because I don't want to go in the car.

My sister is very single, and she is 32 and her typing skills make me look like a professional editor, only because she is severely mentally retarded. But she is the happiest person I know and love her to death.:)

Betty saw the sign kind makes me sad my moms name was Betty to, I wonder the answer to your question to.

I welcome the pictures! Your not hijacking the thread. Glad you got out on Saturday , glad to hear your GF is doing the glades and expert runs. If she can do them at Gore she can do them anywhere. Especially after what happened in the off season, really nice to here she is having fun times with you.

I didn't make it to Greek on Sat., because I had to shovel out both my place and my sisters, just up the road a bit. She and my niece were visiting my brother who lives down in Georgia. So skied Greek all day on Sun. Olympian was open, but didn't get down it, sign said "thin cover" Hercules was never open on Sat. Zeus was open on Sat. but could see that the steep part was quicly scraped down to dirt spots. Arcadian gate was open and they had groomed it. So the trails were mostly groomed packed powder. Greek was quite crowded on Sun. No real lift lines on Chairs 2, 4 & 5. Fairly big liftlines on chairs 1 & 1a from 12:40 to 3:00. Can't beat those $1.00 coffee's in Orions Pub. Was in the A-Frame and Coffee's were $2.19 so I bought a good sized serving of fries for $3.00. On Sat. was a GS race for colleges like Cornell, Syracuse, RIT - On Sun the colleges were racing slalom on Odyssey.

Saw 2 different young girls about 14, with arms locked straight out in front holding poles, skis turned slightly into a snowplow and going straight down the slope, unable to turn or stop. One was bombing Mars hill and the other Illiad. Looked like they made it down without crash and burning.
