She said it wouldn't work because I love snowboarding and there wouldn't be much time left for her this winter. I certainly can't disagree with her there... Other than that she said I was a sweet guy and I should find a woman with the same interest as me .. I guess she meant snowboarding..Wait a minute, don't they always say that as they are showing you the door? Kiss on the cheek, pat on the back as they hug you and say your sweet .. Saved yet again by my passion for the sport.

Sorry to hear that. You're probably better of if she can't deal with the snowboarding.

Is there and Old Snowboarder singles network you can join? ;-)

You can find a knitter (no lack of those in Maine). My wife knits, likes to have the time in the car to get things done. Not too big a deal to sit in the lodge and knit either.

You've got to find someone like my wife. We met at work in 1985 and night skiing was our first date. I knew she was special when I picked her up and she walks out with a set of Dynamic VR17s that must have been 190+CM and shes just 5'5". Better still she road, mountain bikes, camps and hikes too. We're doing a century ride this Sunday. Don't give up they are out there. Most of my friends that are happiest met there significant others in clubs, ski clubs, bike clubs etc. My brother from texas was complaining about all the women he met were high maintenance types that he just had little in common with. I said join a bike club, he did and he met someone within a few months, that was 5 years ago, they're still together.

That sucks.,,I would never diss a girl due to a passion she had and would never expect a girl to diss me for my love of skiing. The girl I'm seeing now is going to be in Mexico while I'm in Jackson Hole but I want to take her up to Okemo sometime since she's an intermediate. She has skied in St. Anton, Jackson Hole with me, Crested Butte, Stowe, Sugarbush, Bolton Valley, Smugglers, and Jay Peak with me back when we were an item in college...I'm a lucky man..to have found her again..

sorry to hear about that Jerry.I've made the point now with all the girls I meet that skiing is a very high priority, and while I'll definitely make time for them, skiing is a must. Man did I make that sound too harsh? Maybe thats why these things won't last for me.....

I can tell from the get go if things aren't gonna work. I'll be like "ya wanna go skiing" and i'll get the sigh of "again? fine, i guess i'll drag myself along"

Some resort should make "chairlift" dating on some slow double or something

Shawnee Peak did this a couple of times last winter. I don't know how successfull it was but their triple certainly makes for a slow ride.

Is it essential for you guys to be with somebody that skis/snowboards??? Yes it's consuming during about 1/3 of the year but I know lots of skiers whose wives/girlfriends don't ski and they go shopping and to spas and stuff when their husbands/boyfriends go on ski trips with the boys..If you care about somebody you'll compromise...I've shelled out major loot to see broadway shows in NYC and I even saw the Nutcracker..do you think I wanted to see that???? No, but the girl wanted to and I did it for her. Plus if you're dating a non-skier..on day trips you can still hang out in the evening or compromise and just ski in the morning..

Sorry to hear that. I've done some preliminary research for you and these are the results. Once you register you can narrow it down by snow sports. Check out "Clipin97" and "Sclays."

YES!

She must ski/ride and either keep up or not get mad if you ski at your own pace. Trips to Jackson or Kicking Horse are not for baby sitting someone who doesn't embrace the same terrain as you do.

But can't trips to Jackson Hole and Kicking Horse be solo trips or with friends..

Suuuuuuuuuuuure... But wouldn't it be better to share it with your woman? It's the ultimate goal.. Rarely obtainable.. But a worthy goal...

She sends me an email this morning saying she thinks she was a little hasty about sending me out the door yesterday and wants to discuss the matter further with me at her place  ... mm-mm I wonder what she has in mind? ..

To be quite candid. If your snowboarding is an issue now, it will continue to be an issue. ...Move on, young man!

I'm with ya Jerry, my long days at work and days gone sailing are starting to get my s/o a little tee'd off. Add to that the fact that I don't like talking on the phone in general, to anybody, and there a recipe for disaster. I don't think she's lookin to give me the boot yet, though.
