Great Skiing with a Nursery?

Hi everyone,

We are new to the area and are dying to go skiing this winter. A big reason that I have been ski-deprived is my beautiful 7-month-old daughter. Does anyone know of a New England resort with both great skiing and a reputable nursery/child care for very young ones?

Thanks,
Deb

We put out son into a nursery at Killington and Okemo when he was 15 months old and had no problems with either resorts. Other than that he was old enough to ski when we took him along again.

Another vote for the Friendly Penguin at Killington. Just make a reservation at 800-621-MTNS, also the woman who runs the program (Lori) is top notch.

I have used the child care at both Bretton Woods and Stratton and they were both good, though I thought Bretton Woods was better. I have only been to Smuggs in the summer but the childcare is excellent there.

Thanks!

Thanks to all of you for your great advice so far. I think we have plenty to start researching, though if anyone has any other thoughts feel free to send them along! :)

Most resorts will have a licensed facility for Child Care. We have had our kids at Stowe and thought highly of the facility and care

Sugarbush Day School

I suggest Sugarbush Day School.

Our four year old daughter has gone to the nursury since she was 5 months old. The staff there is great. Now she is in the Blazer program and goes skiing every weekend during the winter. But she still loves to go back up to the nursury to say hello to all her friends up there. Our 10 month old daughter was in the nursury a few times last season. The service, attention, and care has always been great. We plan to have our 10 month old there all season this year.

And we love the riding at Sugarbush. Great for us and great for the kids!

I have experience with both Stratton and Sugarloaf and both were terrific.....my younger daughter was 1.5 or maybe 2 when we went to Sugarloaf and she had a blast.....

As was mentioned earlier, most if not all ski resorts these days have accredited child care. Just surf the websites of the resorts that interest you and click on childcare. Where are you located?

I can't say enough great things about the Child Care program at Waterville Valley; our twins started there when they were 1 and, when they were 4, were in the hybrid child care/learn to ski program which entailed 2 hours of 1 to 1 or 1 to 2 instruction on the snow along with the usual child care stuff.

The staff is great; a superb full-time director and lots of education majors from Plymouth State on weekends and during vacation weeks.

Mmph?

7 month old isn't old enough to ski yet? What's her problem?

Kids today....

When I was 7 months, I had to ski to work in the mill, at 10PM, getting up 1/2 hour before I went to bed, uphill, both ways through blizzards, and work was 27 hours a day, and we paid the mill for the privilige of working there. Then I went home, to my shoebox, where all 150 of us lived, with just a tarpaulin for a roof, and Dad would beat us with a broken bottle before going to bed.......
