GILFORD, New Hampshire -- The annual fundraiser, Party on the Snow, was held at Gunstock Mtn Resort in Guilford N.H. The event raises funds for the non-profit adaptive ski program, Gunstock Adaptive. People from all over New England gathered to participate in the event.

The Party on the Snow was held on Sat. Mar 14th. Mother nature pitched in for a spectacular spring ski day at Gunstock Mtn Resort. The non-profit organization, Gunstock Adaptive, set a goal to raise $10K. The funds that are raised go towards purchasing new equipment, giving student scholarships, and training the volunteer instructors. There was a record number of people attending this event. 17 Teams of four people raised a minimum of $500 per team. Many teams managed to bring in higher totals. A first place award was given to team "Spirito di Gruppo" for raising a record $2002. One individual received an award for the most money personally collected, $2000.

There were many teams dressed in costumes this day. Dressing in costumes brings public attention to the event, and it's fun. An awards for the best dressed team and best costumed individual are given. This year team "Once Smore" won first place for the best dressed team, managing to ski the Nastar run as a campfire treat. Yil Surehan won best dressed individual, showing us that Elvis is still the King.

We are humbled at the generosity of the public in these fiscally turbulent times. Our volunteers, students, and families of the students, managed to raise over $18K for the program. This shattered our goal of $10K. Nancy Ripley the Gunstock Adaptive Program Director was quoted as saying, "This by far exceeded our expectations, and we consider ourselves very fortunate." We could not have done this without the help of our sponsors, Gunstock Mtn Resort, Piche's Ski and Sports Shop, The Woodstock Inn, The Boston Culinary Group, and Kraft Foods. Of course none of this would have happened if it wasn't for the hard work and dedication of our volunteers and friends.

Gunstock Adaptive flourishes because of the generosity of others. We gather together and create a welcoming environment for people with disabilities to have fun on the snow. The Party on the Snow is an intricate part of this organization. The funds it generates makes it easier to plan and execute the program's objectives. The success of this years event gives us hope that Gunstock Adaptive will continue to provide for the community. This year more than ever, we feel the community has reflected the value of the program. We look forward to the spring of 2010, where we will again meet to "Party on the Snow."

Gunstock Adaptive is a non-profit organization designed to provide disabled people the opportunity to ski or snowboard. We reside at Gunstock Mountain Resort in Guilford N.H.
