Silverton Mountain remains on my must do list. From all accounts I've heard/read it's like lift served heli -skiing.

You can do the cat at Powder for like $8 a ride. Helicopter doesn't take you much higher than the cat. You can get some great pow that way as well.

That article is a little misleading. The author states the resort was sun baked . Getting dropped on James Peak and skiing back to the resort has the same sun aspect and is susceptible to the sun. You can skin to this same spot from the $10 cat ride drop in about 45 mins

Save you're money........go to BC......and do it right!!!!!

I did it in 2001 with my dad (thanks, dad!... could never have afforded it on my own  )

It's just amazing. This is with CMH in Revelstoke, British Columbia:

You don't at all need the heli for untracked there most of the time. Powder country and the stuff off the cat get it done most of the time. Cat drops are fifteen dollars, powder country bus is free. I like the stuff right off the paradise lift. Powder mountain is loads of fun!

Well it certainly wasn't "on the cheap". But 4 days of heli in Alaska was worth every single penny..... (see avatar also)........

That's gorgeous. Seriously half the fun of it is just enjoying the amazing views, (without having to put in any of the legwork to get to the top, hahaha)
