I am looking at buying a first set of ski's (I have always rented which has become a huge waste of money) I am looking at a pair of salomon super force 9 ski's however I cant find anything online about them or the bindings on them (salomon 977) can anyone tell me anything about them, they look to be in great shape and the price is right ($75) not to bad since online I saw them for $250. Please let me know anything you know about them.

TIA

Welcome to the boards.

Well, first off, what kind of skiing do you like to do? Where will you be skiing? What is your height, weight, ability? Other info helps us to help you in determining if this is a possible candidate for you...

Well, you may not want to hear this, but unless you have skied on that ski and know that it is the right length, right shape, and the right stiffness, I think many would join me in urging you to either demo a ski and buy that same model or go to a shop. Many of the folks in here do buy skis online, but only after researching, test driving, and knowing what they want.

That said...there aren't many ski shops in St. Louie.

Do you have the link to the site with that ski on it? What length is it? What DIN do the bindings go up to? Last, are these new or used?

That ski looks old school. How many days a year do you ski? I'd demo (not rent) this season, find a pair you like and wait until the summer to buy them....

Yeah, just what I thought...real old school...like 10+ years old. Don't know if they will service the bindings anymore. Best bet is to get either last year's demo or a holdover that is not 10 years old. You'll have a lot more fun on a newer ski.

I;d say dont waste your money on those skis, take the money and demo....if you cant afford new skis, ask the demo shops at the end of the season, I'm sure they;ll sell you a demo pair at a good price and put a nice tune on em too.....
